Bobby Panter only led two laps as he wins Mid-Season championship
Peachtree’s Jamie Oliver and Copperhill driver Jason Payne set on the inside and outside pole in Saturday’s Mid-Season Late Model Sportsman feature as both took a turn leading the race until Oliver lost a drive shaft, putting him out for the night. Payne had a car length lead as Morganton’s Bobby Panter tried high and low to move to the front of the pack. On the 28th lap, Panter edged past Payne as they blasted under the white flag and held on to the checkers. Doug Sneed, Jacob Anderson, Oliver, Preston Crisp and Josh Morrow rounded out the field.
Copperhill’s Jason Deal beat Kurt English and Tony Ledford across the finish line to win the GM Performance Late Model feature.
Copperhill youngster Heather Taylor won her first feature of the year in the Cornwell Tools main event as it was a photo finish over points leader Greg Sudderth. Sammy Berrong, Frank Brzozowski and Floyd Self rounded out the top five.
The Street Stock feature saw Andrews drive Josh Roberts come from the back of the field to out distance Charles Toomey, Jeremy Woody, who led most of the feature and Harold Garrett.
Sylva’s Justin Woodard won the Mini Stock feature for the third week in a row in his Toyota over Mark Jones, Joshua Cordin and Gary Wilkins.
On schedule this Saturday night will be the $3,000 to win Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late Model show. The series could bring any where between 15 to 30 cars to the popular clay oval in Brasstown.
